The Jobs and Skills Project – For Local People and Employers

The Jobs and Skills Project is a free programme that helps unemployed Hammersmith and Fulham residents, who aren’t on a government supported programme, gain new skills and find work, while also connecting local employers with work-ready candidates.

Are you over 18, unemployed, live in the borough of Hammersmith and Fulham and not on any government employment programme?

Whether you’re ready to work or just thinking about your next move, The Jobs and Skills Project is here to support you.

We know that to find the right job, you have to have the right support. That’s why we are delivering free, local courses to help you develop new skills in construction, cleaning or customer service, to help you take the next step into employment.

The Jobs and Skills Project can help support you into work, build your confidence and learn new skills.

We can help you with:

  • Short, supportive courses designed with employers
  •  Nationally recognised qualifications to boost your CV
  • Help with interviews, job applications, and building your confidence
  • 1:1 support throughout your journey. A supportive and inclusive environment. We’ll help you take the next step.

Who can join?

This programme is open to anyone who is:

  • Aged 18 and over.
  • Living in Hammersmith and Fulham.
  • People who are not currently on a government-funded programme.
  • UK residents, not currently in work and eligible to work in the UK.

You will get the opportunity to receive on of the following:

  • Construction – Level 1 Health & Safety in a Construction Environment + CSCS Card.
  • Customer Service – Level 2 BTEC Award in Customer Service.
  • Cleaning – Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Cleaning.

Training will typically last 5 days, depending on the course. Additional support for up to three months from a dedicated Journey Advisor will include employability support, confidence building, and progression planning. There will also be opportunities for interviews with local employers. You may also gain the opportunity for an interview with an employer who is supporting your course. 

You don’t need experience — just a willingness to give it a go. We’ll support you every step of the way.

Ixion part of Shaw Trust have partnered with Higgins Group through the Jobs and Skills Project. It aims to create real pathways into employment for people living in Hammersmith and Fulham. This is part of Higgins’ commitment to creating positive social impact within the borough and to upskill people into employment through accredited training and additional employment support.
