City of London

Delivered in partnership with

City of London and City Youth Forum

Shaw Trust have worked with the City of London corporation for over 10 years supporting young people across the City of London giving them a voice and supporting them to achieve their full potential.

Youth Voice – City Youth Forum

Working in collaboration with young people to deliver fun and practical programmes around social action, empowerment and young issues. If you meet the following criteria, you can get involved and start making a difference.

  • You live, work, study or volunteer in the City of London.
  • You are aged 11-19 (up to 25 with learning difficulties, disabilities or a care leaver).

The City Youth Forum (CYF) is a group of young people who work together to make the City of London a better place for young people. The group is chaired by our Member of Youth Parliament (MYP) and deputy and members set the focus and agenda. The meetings are fun, safe and interesting with young people driving the conversation.

There are three different ways you can get involved:

  • Youth Voice Consultant: Help by giving your views and opinions on things that impact you and other young people. Answer our polls with as much or little information as you want. This option is the best for people who don’t have time to attend meetings but still want to have their voice heard.
  • Member of the CYF: Join our CYF as a standing member and attend monthly forum meetings, get involved in change and social action to make a difference in the community. Meetings take place both in person and online.
  • Youth Leader: A progression for members of the CYF into a leadership role. This allows you to drive change about issues that are important to you and your friends whilst gaining valuable experience and leadership skills.

Trip to Nottingham: Youth Participation Ambassador Report

As part of my professional development, I had the opportunity to shadow Rebecca Lillie, the Quality Assurance Manager and YVPG Lead for H2I. During this visit, we explored two residential homes operated by Homes to Inspire, an organisation dedicated to providing safe, nurturing, and high-quality care for children who have often experienced trauma.
