UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) Celebrations Event – City of London

23 April
UK Shared Prosperity Fund

On the 6 March, I had the privilege of attending the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) Celebrations Event at the Museum of London, alongside Trina Rodden, Service Manager for Young People and Families, London, and Matt Joyce, Assistant Director of Children’s Services – Young People and Families, London. This event, hosted by the Greater London Authority (GLA), was a celebration of the achievements and progress made by UKSPF-funded projects in London.

The event provided an excellent platform to reflect on the impact of the UKSPF programme to date and the positive changes it has driven across various communities. It was a valuable opportunity to engage with representatives from other UKSPF-funded projects, exchange ideas, and share successes, fostering collaboration and mutual learning.

Key Highlights and Networking Opportunities:

One of the most significant aspects of the event was the chance to network with other project teams, partners, and key stakeholders. This included senior figures such as Howard Dawber, the Deputy Mayor of London for Business and Growth. Engaging with individuals at this level was both insightful and encouraging, as it offered a broader understanding of how different UKSPF projects are contributing to community development and social impact.

Hearing success stories from other projects reinforced the importance of the work we do and highlighted the collective difference that UKSPF funding is making in people’s lives. It was inspiring to learn about the various approaches being taken to address challenges in areas such as youth development, employment, and social inclusion.

My Role and Reflections:

As the Youth Participation Ambassador for Shaw Trust Children’s Services, attending this event was particularly meaningful. My journey began with the Change Project, where I was mentored and supported by Yuliia, a Change Maker assigned to me. The Change Project focuses on youth development by enhancing personal growth, mental health, self-esteem, and volunteering through personalised mentoring.

Impact of the Event:

The UKSPF Celebrations Event reinforced the value of the Change Project’s approach and provided inspiration for future initiatives. It also offered opportunities to explore potential partnerships and collaborations with other UKSPF-funded projects.

The exposure and insights gained from this event have strengthened my understanding of the broader impact of UKSPF funding and the importance of continued investment in youth and community services.

Overall, the UKSPF Celebrations Event was a resounding success. It was a well-organised and impactful event that brought together a diverse range of project teams, partners, and stakeholders. The opportunity to celebrate achievements, share best practices, and build connections will undoubtedly enhance the ongoing work of Shaw Trust and other UKSPF-funded initiatives.
