Hello, I’m Ramizah Tayiba, and I am thrilled to be starting as a Youth Participation Ambassador (YPA) I am passionate about empowering young people to have a voice in decisions that impact them. I am committed to creating opportunities for meaningful engagement across Children and Young People’s Services. With a background in education, safeguarding and community work, I bring a wealth of experience in fostering supportive and inclusive environments.
There was a time when things were not as smooth as they are today. After graduating, I faced significant challenges in securing employment, which left me feeling uncertain about my future. However, that all changed when I became involved with the Shaw Trust’s Change Project. Within a few weeks of joining, I was made aware of YPA role and the great work it hopes to achieve. I applied, attended and interview and was successful in being appointed.
This opportunity came about thanks to the dedicated support of my assigned Change Maker, Yuliia. Her encouragement and persistence were instrumental in helping me believe in myself enough to apply for the role. Yuliia’s unwavering guidance made all the difference, and I am deeply grateful for her efforts. Being successful in this role has really been a turning point in my life and I am finally embarking upon my career journey.
I have a BA (Hons) in Early Years from the University of Greenwich and have worked in various roles that highlight my dedication to making a positive difference, from providing attentive care as an Early Years Educator to offering compassionate support.
For the next 12 months I will work closely with young people, colleagues and senior leaders to champion our Youth Participation Pledge, ensuring that the voices of young people are heard and valued. I am always eager to learn, collaborate, and contribute to building a brighter future for the next generation. I already have ideas on how I can help spread the voice of young people across everything that we do.
