Finding the right way forwards
Too many young people currently feel stuck, low in confidence or unsure about their future.
Navigator helps them move towards work, training or education. It’s a programme that bridges the gap for people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) who aren’t ready for full-time employment, education or training.
Navigator helps them move towards work, training or education. It’s a programme that bridges the gap for people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) who aren’t ready for full-time employment, education or training.
It provides:
- careers advice that’s shaped around their work and learning goals
- wellbeing support to build their confidence and independence
- development of soft skills, such as teamwork and communication skills
- access to educational and industry-led qualifications and insights
- access to Maths and English functional skills.
Getting ready for what's next
Navigator was created for young people who need more time, structure and specialist support to reach their potential.
They’ll get:
- Three days of support per week, for up to 12 months. This creates a routine while allowing time for wellbeing, health needs and other commitments.
- A mix of group sessions, one-to-one support and community activities. They’ll have the chance to build their confidence through hands-on experience.
- Accredited learning and online support. The programme is tailored to the young person and taken at their pace.
It’s all wrapped up in ongoing support from our Navigator coaches and specialist mentoring, using cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). This helps grow confidence, resilience and self-awareness, supporting young people’s personal development.
Everyone is different. So is our support
Our Navigator coaches recognise each young person’s skills, barriers and goals. They help them find the best way forwards.
How it works for young people
Everyone who joins Navigator gets:
- an ongoing assessment to understand their needs and put support in place
- an action plan, created with the young person and their family (if helpful)
- regular check-ins to get the right support in place, and make any changes.
We join up careers guidance, wellbeing support and both local jobs and training insights. Our goal is to help young people move closer to work, education or training. Put it all together, and you get Navigator: where next steps feel possible, not pressured.
Navigator can be delivered across London boroughs and is for young people who are:
- aged 16-24
- living with SEND
- thinking about their next steps in education, work or training
- wanting to build confidence, explore options and gain experience or accredited learning
Places on the programme are subject to local arrangements and referral processes.
