IPS Grow event at The British Library: October 2025
In October last year, Kent and Medway IPS Employment Specialist, Eni Silveira SWK, and her client, Jamie Walker, attended IPS Grow at the British Library. It was a chance for Jamie to speak openly about his personal journey, and the positive impact IPS has had on his life.
First, Jamie shared his personal story, from when he was a child in boarding school with the first signs of mental health, to his successful working life, personal challenges, breakdown, and finally, his recovery.
Next, Jamie spoke about his first contact with Eni and their early appointments. He explained how he’d come to the service feeling incredibly nervous, but was able to grow trust and confidence over time – which helped Eni support him.
Finally, Jamie went on to talk about his recent successes, including filming for Calm (mental health charity, the Campaign Against Living Miserably), regular invitations for auditions, and some upcoming films he has recorded. He stated how he felt proud to experience success again, and grateful for the belief and support of Eni and the IPS team. Jamie said he now finds himself ‘in a happy place’.
After this, the floor was opened to questions. The audience asked Jamie about his experiences and Eni about best practices, mental health collaboration and the importance of working together.
Everyone in attendance felt inspired by Jamie and Eni. In turn, Jamie opened his network and shared his experiences, while Eni spread the word about IPS and how she loves her job – simply saying, ‘making a difference on another individual’s life is the fuel’.
