From building trust to travelling solo: Lucy’s transformation with CFO Evolution

Lucy* had a tough upbringing, facing challenges no one should have to. With no family to turn to, she felt stuck. Looking to rebuild her life and find work, Lucy’s Probation Officer referred her to CFO Evolution.

Finding it hard to trust new people, Lucy braved a female-only session at the CFO Activity Hub. It was here that her journey really began, as she was paired with Shaw Trust Support Worker, Lisa. Lucy now had a glimmer of hope – and the only way was up.

Lisa slowly worked to build Lucy’s trust and confidence, so she could speak more freely with the team and make sense of her future. Over the sessions, Lisa learnt that Lucy had always dreamt of becoming a beauty therapist. Together, they worked out an action plan.

Lucy soon enrolled in college and started working towards her Maths and English qualifications. Lisa also empowered Lucy to explore apprenticeships as a next step. As Lucy works towards that future, the CFO Activity Hub team will carry on supporting and encouraging her, every step of the way.

Today, Lucy doesn’t just have a career in mind and a clear path forward, but the confidence to walk it. The change has been so incredible, that Lucy was able to live out another passion: travelling. Not only did she fly to Milan for a solo holiday, but she now plans to travel more, and vlog about her adventures on social media. The trust she has in others, and confidence she’s built to put herself out there, mark a huge milestone in Lucy’s journey.

When asked about her time with CFO Evolution, Lucy said “I feel good about myself and much more confident. Lisa made me feel that I am worth something and can achieve whatever I want in life”.

With new qualifications, exciting hobbies and courage for the future, the CFO Activity Hub team can’t wait to see what Lucy does next.
