From rejection to rediscovering potential: Natalya’s story
Losing her job just a week before Christmas was a devastating blow for Natalya. Not only did it leave her unexpectedly unemployed during what should have been a joyful time of year, but it also had a huge impact on her confidence and mental wellbeing. Suddenly, the future felt uncertain, leaving Natalya questioning her worth.
While Natalya was keen to get back into work and landed countless interviews, the outcome was always the same: rejection. In many cases, she had no response or feedback at all.
Determined to find a job, Natalya referred herself to Connect to Work. She soon met with Josie, her 1:1 employment specialist, and started planning her next steps. Together, they explored what kind of role would suit Natalya’s needs, interests and circumstances. With each session, Josie and Natalya got to know each other better and better – and Natalya’s confidence flourished. She was soon applying for jobs that felt a better fit for her, practising her interview skills at the same time.
Natalya soon accepted a part-time cleaning position at a local primary school. It’s given her a sense of purpose and stability, and she’s excited about growing in her role. She’s now feeling happy, settled and positive about the future, while exploring options like extra hours, full-time work or even an additional part-time job.
Most importantly of all, Natalya has the tools and confidence she needs to manage her career journey independently.
