Care leavers in Harrow and Ealing can now get 12 months of support to move into training, learning and earning.

The programme’s called My Future Journey, and it’s funded through the West London Alliance’s social value plan.

Here’s how we’re helping care leavers:

• Personalised careers advice: Finding opportunities that meet their skills, goals and needs, with the service shaped around them.
• Cognitive behavioural mentoring: Supporting them with any challenging thoughts and behaviours, and reframing them in a positive way.
• Personal champion: Providing a single point of contact from start to finish, who’s linked across different services.
• Youth-led approach: Empowering them to have control over their futures and make decisions about what matters to them.
• Specialist support: Working closely with leaving care professionals to give the right support at each stage, for both mental and physical health.
• Next steps signposting: Linking to other services at the end of the programme, like Connect to Work.
