FL joined the IPS Thrive into Work programme in March 2024. She was unemployed and was unsure how to progress into work.
Joining forces with Kainoni Brown, Employment Specialist at Shaw Trust, FL received financial support towards the completion of the “Learn and Work Essential Online” course. The course equips all participants with the digital skills required for today’s job market.
“I am very grateful for the support I’ve received.” FL continued “The assistance with my travel fares allowed me to attend and complete the course which has been crucial for my professional development.”
Beyond educational support, Kainoni introduced FL to Smart Works, an organisation that provides professional attire for women who are actively looking for work. FL received several office outfits, boosting her confidence and readiness for job interviews and her new work environment.
FL was successful shortly after and secured a job at the DCAS Business School of Management. To relieve financial stress in the first few weeks of work, Kainoni was able to cover the cost of a monthly Oyster card to make sure FL could commute to her new job.
Checking in with the Thrive into Work team, FL said “I started my new job yesterday, and I couldn’t be happier! Kainoni’s support has been instrumental every step of the way. From training to securing the job and ensuring I can get to work – the assistance has been unwavering.”
FL’s journey from training to employment highlights the critical role of community support services like IPS Thrive into Work, which aims to empower individuals by removing barriers to employment and providing essential resources.
FL is just one of many who has benefited from this programme saying “The work being done by Haringey Council and the IPS Thrive into Work service is brilliant. I will definitely recommend other friends to seek their help.”
