Ready to secure your new role with us? We’ve explained our recruitment process so you know what to expect.

During our recruitment process we want you to be able to be yourself, and do your best to show us what you can bring to Shaw Trust. Likewise, we hope that through the process you can discover more about what it’s like to work at Shaw Trust.

The exact recruitment process may differ depending on the role you have applied for. We’ve outlined an example process below to give you an idea of what to expect.

The application process

Browse Browse our vacancies, select a role that interests you and familiarise yourself with the job listing. Read through the job description and personal specification – these give you an overview of the role and the essential requirements that we are looking for. When you are ready, click apply.
Details Fill in your details as requested and upload your CV. Make sure that your CV is up to date, logically ordered and tailored to reflect the requirements of the role you are applying for, and include the reason for any gaps on your CV. Some vacancies may also ask for a supporting statement. This is a good place to highlight key skills and experience that you can bring to the role, as well as what has attracted you to the role.
Interview process Next, we will invite you for a telephone or video interview. This will be used to decide if you go through to the next stage of the interview process. Learn how to prepare for a Shaw Trust interview here.
Next steps We will let you know if you are through to the next stage. This is usually done via email. You can also check your progress by logging into your careers portal accessed via our careers page.
Final stage assessment There may be a second or final stage assessment process. This may include an exercise that is relevant to the role you’ve applied for, such as a presentation or case study, and a competency-based interview. Our assessment process may take place in person at one of our sites or online using Microsoft Teams.
Outcome You will be informed of the outcome by email. If you are successful, we will offer you the job, and our resourcing team or hiring manager will be in touch to discuss the details.
The offer process Our HR team will email you your offer information, which can be accessed via your careers portal. To complete the offer, we will request some information from you, including copies of your Right to Work ID (if that hasn’t been taken at your interview). Visit www.gov.uk/legal-right-work-uk to find out which documents you need. Our offers are subject to satisfactory reference checks and a DBS check. You will receive links from our third-party partners to provide them with the information to commence the reference and DBS check.
