Transforming local services for young care leavers through strategic partnerships
As part of our strategic partnerships, we’re helping care-experienced young people plan and prepare for their future working lives. Our approach focuses on identifying system gaps and co-designing solutions with local organisations.
Our model
We are currently focused on two strategic trials to improve local service delivery for care leavers:
- In Somerset, we’re working closely with Somerset Council to connect services and provide wraparound support, especially for those in rural areas. This work which builds on a previous grant to Young Somerset for peer-to-peer mentoring, includes system mapping to understand where support is available.
- In Northamptonshire, we are partnering with Northamptonshire Children’s Trust to explore how employment services and local charity support can better serve all children in care.
In both areas, local authorities, businesses and not for profits all have a part of play in providing the support young people in their communities need.
Aims and impact
Through our strategic partnerships, we aim to improve how services work for care-experienced young people by addressing gaps in the system. By collaborating with local partners, we’re building more effective, joined-up support that helps young people move confidently into work or education.
