Garden Centre Support Assistant Volunteer

Location/region: Billing and Palmer Gardens
As a charity, our Garden Centres provide supported employment placements for people in our community.
 
You will support service users with horticultural, landscaping, DIY and crafting activities.
 
If you love the outdoors, have some practical skills to put to good use, and want to help people in your community, then this is the role for you.

Key Tasks

This role could include supporting service users in a range of tasks including:
  • A range of DIY tasks as needed including recycling timber, making bird boxes, insect hotels, planters, and some site maintenance and decoration.
  • Planting in our polytunnels and beds and making hanging baskets.
  • Weeding, pruning, and general garden maintenance.
  • Upcycling, recycling, and other crafting and DIY tasks.
  • Potting up and watering plants.
  • Forest school activities such as birdwatching and bug safaris.

What are we asking for?

  • Normally we ask for around 4 hours a week, but we can be flexible

  • Volunteers here must be aged 16+

Volunteer hours

Monday to Friday 9am to 3pm. There is flexibility around the start and finish times and no minimum, but volunteers generally volunteer for either a morning or afternoon shift.
