Today is European Equal Pay Day, the day when the ‘average’ woman in the EU stops being paid compared to men. At Shaw Trust we know that it isn’t just women who are not always paid the same rate, it is also disabled workers and people from different ethnic groups.
That’s why today, we are publishing our “Paying our people fairly report” showing the mean and median differences in pay across Shaw Trust. Our report shows we still have gaps where we can improve, and by measuring and reporting our negligible pay gap for disability, no pay gap for ethnicity and a small pay gap for gender we know where we need to continue to improve. And we will.
Our Head of Equality and Inclusion, Michelle Jackson, leads this work and said:
“I am proud to work for an organisation that is committed to ensuring that there is equity for all colleagues. I am ambitious for what we can achieve at Shaw Trust and commit to undertake Disability and Ethnicity Pay Gap reporting alongside the Gender Pay Gap. We want to be certain that all colleagues are paid fairly for the work they do supporting the 335,000 people we work with each year and that we achieve diversity at all levels of the organisation. We will be taking the steps needed to close pay gaps and focus on developing an inclusive culture where all colleagues are able to thrive and progress.”
