From the 9 – 23 February, Shaw Trust retail is delighted to be one of five charities taking part in the innovative Charity Super.Mkt pop-up, bringing pre-loved clothes to Bond Street in London!
Wayne Hemingway, a former Red or Dead designer, helped curate the project and says: ‘We are on a mission to get charity fashion into spaces and places it hasn’t been before. Bond Street with all the big brands … is going to be a major experiment.’
So far, Charity Super.Mkt has raised nearly £1.6 million for various charities by selling over 180,000 items, saving roughly 53 tonnes of clothes from going to landfill.
Renata Graver, Director of Charity Retail Shops, Forth Sector and Garden Centres at Shaw Trust says: ‘The charity retail collaboration embodies Shaw Trust’s mission, and our commitment to community engagement, serving as a powerful vehicle to promote reuse, repurpose, and rehome practices while raising broader awareness about the benefits of sustainable shopping.
‘This initiative not only reinforces Shaw Trust’s mission but actively engages local communities, fostering a sense of responsibility and inclusivity. Through joint efforts, we not only generate funds to improve lives within these communities but also create job opportunities, provide educational initiatives, and make a positive environmental impact.
‘The synergy between our mission and the collaborative retail efforts from different charities showcases the transformative potential of aligning with our values, creating a meaningful impact on both individuals and the environment.’
