Shaw Trust Enterprises Scadbury Park is a small Horticulture social business based in Chislehurst Kent. We deliver a range of commercial activities that create ‘real’ work and training opportunities for local people. We train our clients, teach them new skills, boost their confidence and help them become more independent. For those who aspire to work, we create paid opportunities within our Social Enterprises or help them secure other paid work elsewhere. Our Scadbury Park enterprise focuses on horticulture and helps clients develop skills in horticulture and customer service:
- Learning about growing and looking after plants
- Preparing plants including hanging baskets and wreaths
- Woodwork, using tools and some machinery
- Garden and grounds maintenance
- Customer service
- Handling cash/cards and using electronic touch screen tills
How it works
We invite the individual to visit our social enterprise. We give them a guided tour, spend some time with them to find out what types of things they are interested in and what they like to do. Once we have this information we work to include Shaw Trust in their care plan. There is a cost. If they have a personal budget or direct payment we can start putting a plan in place straight away. It is a warm and welcoming environment and all of our staff and volunteers are experienced professionals.
