
Junior Sous Chef

Salary: From £13- 14 per hour

We are now looking for a passionate Junior Sous Chef to join our team and contribute to delivering high-quality dishes while supporting the kitchen’s daily operations.
The Role
As a Junior Sous Chef, you will assist in the smooth running of the kitchen, ensuring high standards of food preparation, hygiene, and efficiency. You will play a key role in maintaining food quality, training junior team members, and supporting the Head and Sous Chefs in all aspects of kitchen management. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in kitchen operations – Support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in managing the kitchen, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and quality in food preparation.
- Food preparation & service – Oversee and participate in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of menu items to company standards.
- Quality control – Ensure portion sizes, presentation, and ingredients follow company recipes. Conduct temperature checks and maintain food safety compliance.
- Hygiene & compliance – Maintain strict hygiene and cleanliness standards, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations. Supervise and enforce hygiene procedures.
- Stock & supplier management – Assist with placing food orders, checking deliveries, and ensuring the highest quality ingredients. Monitor food waste and control costs.
- Training & team leadership – Support the development of junior kitchen staff, ensuring they follow company policies, kitchen procedures, and food safety standards.
- Operational support – Step in to manage kitchen shifts in the absence of senior chefs, ensuring smooth service and kitchen organisation.
- Health & Safety – Ensure all kitchen operations comply with health & safety regulations. Monitor equipment, report faults, and follow company safety procedures.

What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented, and passionate Junior Sous Chef who thrives in a fast-paced kitchen and takes pride in delivering high-quality dishes. Ideal candidates will have:
- Previous experience in a kitchen role, preferably in a casual dining or Italian restaurant.
- Strong culinary skills with the ability to manage food preparation and service under pressure.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations, with a commitment to maintaining high standards.
- Leadership potential to support and train junior kitchen staff.
- A passion for Italian cuisine and culture is a plus!
